Every team is a reflection of its people. That’s why I begin with a core assumption: your team members are creative, resourceful, whole, and competent. That’s why you chose them. If that doesn’t feel true, then the challenge may not be the team dynamic; it may be the team composition. That’s a different conversation.
Assuming you have the right people on the bus, then your path to a high-performing team is clear: remove as many obstacles as you can so your team can thrive. This is a different approach to team building. It’s less about building a team and more about removing the barriers that get in the way of your team being great.
Why does this matter? Because it’s much easier and faster to remove barriers than to create team trust, engagement, and chemistry. When the barriers are down, these things happen faster, easier, and more organically.
This is important because high-performing teams are more than the sum of their parts. When collaboration is flowing, 1 + 1 equals 3. But when there’s drag instead of drive—1 + 1 feels more like 1.5. That’s not just inefficient. It’s exhausting.
In my work with teams, I’ve found that most friction can be traced back to four core challenges:
Each one brings its own form of tension—and opportunity. Each one can slow a team down—or spark its best thinking. That’s why I’ve created a set of short, practical assessments to help you understand the source of the challenge and unlock the path forward to unleash the full power of your team.
Choose the challenge that best describes what you’re noticing on your team. You’ll be taken to a short, research-informed and field-tested assessment that will help you better understand your team’s dynamics—and your own.
